Beer Review: Great Divide 16th Anniversary Wood Aged Double IPA

In Double IPA, Reviews on February 5, 2011 at 12:06 pm

Thanks to Skander, a new celebrity after the blizzard and flight cancellations.  He sent me a bunch of beers from the Colorado area.  This one is a special anniversary ale from Great Divide. Here’s my review:

Pours a burnt and hazy orange, with an off white head.

Wood, earthy and fruity hops on the nose.

On the palate, a grassy and vanilla woody taste, with some banana, pineapple, mango and tangerine all evolving from the complex hops and from the wooden barrel.  Some butter, and more vanilla on back with a hint of pepper and oak.

The taste is very complex with caramel notes, bread, fruits, and a woody and vanilla finish.

A really nice drink.  Goes down easily for all 10%.  You should drink it, if you can get your hands on it..

Style: Double IPA

ABV: 10%

Cheers!
