Beer Review: Stone Lukcy Basartd Ale

In American Strong Ale, Reviews on February 4, 2011 at 12:04 pm

The Arrogance continues.  A blend of Arrogant Bastard, Oaked Arrogant Bastard and Double Bastard, for Stone’s 13th anniversary. Notice the spelling.  Here’s my review:

Pours a copper color with an off white head.

Caramel malt, piney hop and some tropical fruit (mango skin, peach, apple skin) in the nose along with some light bready notes.

Sweet toffee hits the taste buds first with some bready malt then the hops exact a coup de tongue with grass, pine, grapefruit, apple skin and mango with a touch of nuttiness and wood in the finish.

This is really an awesome beer.  I loved it more than the beers that made it.  Together, they blended to make something in your face yet subtle and complex.

This beer would be great with dry rubbed ribs, or pulled pork.

Style: American Strong Ale

ABV: 8.5%

Cheers!
