Beer Review: Victory V-Twelve

In Quad, Reviews on March 4, 2011 at 12:21 pm

Victory is one of my favorite breweries as they put out some of my favorite beers like Hop Devil, Yakima Twilight (now Yakima Glory), Prima Pils and now V-Twelve is on my list.  Here’s my review:

Pours a sunset, burnt honey, orange color with a tight white head. Simply put; a beautiful glass of beer.

The aroma does not disappoint the expectations given by the visual.  Sweet malt, orange, peach, pear, apricot, raisin, touches of caramel, spice and grain all harmoniously create an impressive nose for this beer.

The bubbles strike first with a seemingly dry character from the high level of carbonation, then the beer becomes very sweet mid palate with fig, raisin, and more residual sugar accompanied by some tobacco and nuttiness with hay and bread.  All of these flavors lead to a bubbly and somewhat dry, spicy and warming boozy finish.

It is highly drinkable.  Great Belgian inspired yeast notes, sweet bread and fruity flavors.  I loved it.  I would suggest drinking it after dinner with some rich cheeses. A tangy goat cheese would be particularly good.

Style: Quadrupel

ABV: 12%
