Beer Review: Oskar Blues Gubna

In Double IPA, Reviews on December 3, 2010 at 12:32 pm

More from my favorite canned beer brewery: Oskar Blues.  This time my favorite offering of theirs: Gubna.  A massively hoppy Double IPA.  Here’s my review:

Golden orange in color, with a white head.

Malt, caramel, and some bread and butter combined with some dank hops create an orange, biscuity aroma.

The taste is sweet with a hint of malt up front that rolls into a pungent, citrus hop twang.  Very delicious.  Complex hop flavors of earthy, bitter orange, some metallic, grass and even some herbal and mango notes.

It is a bit boozy towards the end of the 12 oz. can, which is mostly notable as it warms.  Keep it cold and you’ll never notice.

This beer is great.  Delivers in every big way.  Hops, booze, malt, flavor, and backs it all up with a fine balance.

Style: Double IPA

ABV: 10%
