Beer Review: Bell’s Special Double Cream Stout

Pours a deep, impenetrable black with no highlights whatsoever.  Gives off an off white, but minimal head.

Has a roasty malt aroma with a sweet note, like maple syrup or cream soda.

The taste is sweet and soft up front with a creamy medium bodied mouthfeel.  The roast fades in the bubbly-dry finish to give off some woody notes and a hint of espresso.

This stout is deliciously simple, I really could drink it all night.  It is creamy and a touch of sweet balanced by a touch of roast and bitterness.

This would go great with a heart dinner of grilled chicken or lamb, or save it for dessert with a chocolate cake or mousse.  Definitely will be awesome with crème brulee!
